Carols singing in the night
Happiness spreads through the air
Reindeers flying in the sky
I saw Santa everywhere
Santa bringing presents for you
To leave them under your tree
Merry Christmas to everyone
And a Happy New Year to
Santa Clause and all reindeers
Santa, Santa, Where Are You?
It's late in the night,
Something's falling from the sky,
It's blue and fluffy white,
The reindeers are trying to fly.
Someone's happy, that's Mr. Ray
He's waiting at the checkout bay.
This is our Christmas rhyme,
We hope you have a good time.
Santa, Santa, where are you?
Have you gone to B & Q?
Santa, Santa, come tonight
We are wishing with all our might.
Someone's happy, that's Mr. Ray
He's waiting at the checkout bay.
This is our Christmas rhyme,
We hope you have a good time.
All the girls and all the boys
Waiting for their Christmas toys.
Angel wants a brand new dress,
Kiran wants a Nintendo D.S.
Someone's happy, that's Mr. Ray
He's waiting at the checkout bay.
This is our Christmas rhyme
We hope you have a good time.
The Best Present I Never Had
A car made of ice
Would be really nice,
So would a self-cleaning bison.
Some big cheesy sticks
That are made out of bricks
and a punch on the jaw from Mike Tyson!
Morpurgo for me
Would be nice to see.
I'd like to take him out to tea.
I'd like a magic wish come true
But it's a secret,
I can't tell you.
A spare pair of hands
Would be handy to see
I'd tickle my sister
Before she tickles me
by Courtney, Yusuf, Kadir, Ray and Craig
Presents for Santa
A beard trimmer,
I'd like to be slimmer!
One black boot,
A new red suit,
A self-launching reindeer chute.
A new pair of gloves
For my wife Mary,
A new pair of wings
For the Christmas Fairy.
Some mince pies
With a crust that flies.
Children won't
Believe their eyes!
Some red polish
For Rudolph's nose,
I'll shine it up
Until it glows
And that's the way
My Christmas goes.
Kiran's Christmas
Come in here get your brains in gear,
Have a plate of Christmas cheer,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Is always here this time of year.
So is Santa with his sleigh
To bring toys so you can play.
Merry Christmas have your way
And then you can play today,
Santa says "Hope you're O.K.!"

Christmas with Craig Bragley
The Wheatsheaf Library had a Christmas and Literacy celebration on Saturday 13th December.
Crazily Brilliant Craig Bradley, performance poet extraordinaire came along and we created some brilliant poems. Here's one of them. We hope to post a picture of our shape poem as well as all the others we wrote
Courtney came along for the first time today. Here is a poem in her honour
Course you can, Courtney.
Course you can, Dear.
Course you can, Courtney
But don't do it here!
Course you can, Courtney.
Course you can, Pet.
Course you can, Courtney
But don't do it yet!
Course you can, Courtney.
Course you can, Mate.
Course you can, Courtney
Oh no! It's too late!
Course you can, Courtney.
Course you can, Friend.
Course you can Courtney
Look out! It's the end!

We created more poems and stories at this get together.
As well as posting them on the blog for you to enjoy, Rochdale Readers highlighted the wonderful work of Author and Illustrator Nick Sharratt.
From his vast array of work we looked in particular at
Once Upon a Time - written and illustrated by Nick, this is a brilliant book where every time you tell the story it is different. This works as you get 6 characters on nearly every page to choose from to be in the story. It can be as silly or as sensible as you want - great!
Then we chose Accidentally on Purpose, where he has produced the illustrations to Kes Gray's story. This is a Daisy book (she hates peas) and by using split pages you can mix and match Daisy's actions being as naughty or as good as she can be - but she always has to go to bed early.
Finally we chose Never Use a Knife and Fork where Nick's illustrations are matched to Neil Goddards' rhyming couplets - outrageous things are done with the food - but we have all eaten ice cream and biscuits as described here.
CHECK THEM OUT!

Word Of Mouth
Word of mouth
Always travels South
Whenever you speak
You can hear a tap leak
Confidence is the word
So when writing don't get blurred
Doesn't matter if you get a smudge
Just eat a chocolate fudge
Speak loud and cleared
And you'll be heard
Speak it out loud
And you'll be proud
When you think
Just make your eye blink
Justopen your eye
And eat an apple pie

Mind and Body by Billal
Legs to help you walk and run,
Eyes to help you see.
A nose to help you smell,
A mouth to help you to smile and talk,
Arms to help you hold and other things,
A brain to help you think.
A heart to help you love.
Ears to help you listen.

Gillian Cross has been in touch
Gillian says that some of her stories might fit the themes of The National Year of Reading
Can you guess which ones go with which month?
Chartbreak - which is a teenage girl telling her story
The Tree House - which has letters from two little boys to their father
The Monster From Underground - which is about a boy doing a project in which a dinosaur's ghost gets involved.
This last story reminds Mariyam about another great story called "Jimmy Zest" - where Jimmy steals egg cartons to make a dinosaur. It's well worth reading.

A Healthy Poem by Billal
Healthy healthy stay healthy
If you don't you'll be saggy
What better way to be healthy.
How to be healthy
Eat five fruits and vegetables a day
You don't have to be wealthy
to be healthy!
THE OTHER SIDE OF YOU!
Close your eyes and look deep inside,
Concentrate your body and mind,
And soon you will find that there,
Is a whole new person inside of you!
So just have fun,
And then you've won.
When your down in the dumps,
Just close your eyes,
Focus your mind,
And you will find,
THE OTHER SIDE OF YOU!

Aliens in your mind and body bymariyam
Have you ever imagined aliens in your own body, controlling every one of your moves. If you have tried to think about it but can't ,actually imagine it being in your body, that what size and colour it might be? and what it might be actually doing inside your body? but did you know that the alien in your tummy gives you a tummy eack only if you eat your fruit and vegtables, and the alien in your brain gives you ahead eack but did you know that the alien in your mind only gives you are head eack if you eat your fruit and vegtables but that doesn't mean that you don't , have to have your fruit and vegtables. And thats why you have head ecks and tummy eacks. And did you know that the aliens in your body don't like fruit and vegtables any where you eat it and any time but the most important , thing is that you must be HEALTHY! and carbohydrates provide fuel for your pure and healthy body and your strong muscles!

In English,
Well, poetry time,
I was told to write A Cross Stick
So I did, I wrote "A Cross Stick" in my exercise book
Miss said,
Well, Miss said a lot of things
'bout paying attention and stuff
But I wasn't really listening because I could see
My Cross Stick flying like Harry Potter's Broomstick
To a faraway deserted dessert Island where animals like
The chocolate mouse, lemming meringue pie, rat-atouille live
Miss said, Miss said ............er Miss said
I think she said I should concentrate more
And my Cross Stick disappeared

about poems
most poems rhyme but they don't all have to. lots of poems don't have alot of punctuation in it. there are different types of poems. poems don't always have to make sense because they could be nonsense poems.
