We created more poems and stories at this get together.
As well as posting them on the blog for you to enjoy, Rochdale Readers highlighted the wonderful work of Author and Illustrator Nick Sharratt.
From his vast array of work we looked in particular at
Once Upon a Time - written and illustrated by Nick, this is a brilliant book where every time you tell the story it is different. This works as you get 6 characters on nearly every page to choose from to be in the story. It can be as silly or as sensible as you want - great!
Then we chose Accidentally on Purpose, where he has produced the illustrations to Kes Gray's story. This is a Daisy book (she hates peas) and by using split pages you can mix and match Daisy's actions being as naughty or as good as she can be - but she always has to go to bed early.
Finally we chose Never Use a Knife and Fork where Nick's illustrations are matched to Neil Goddards' rhyming couplets - outrageous things are done with the food - but we have all eaten ice cream and biscuits as described here.
