National Poetry Day may not be until Thursday 7th October but Rochdale Readers are honing their poetry skills already.
The theme is "Home" so we've been thinking about words that come to mind, here is Rachel's poem.
Rachel's Words
Welcome to my
Nice
.....New
.......Lovely
.............Wonderful
...................Comfortable
Home
Of course, Ray being Ray he couldn't help adding his own slant to Rachel's words
Tap dripping, Mum flipping,
Dad fast asleep (wonderful!)
Cat's been sick, that's a new trick,
Dog's chasing sheep (nice!)
Roof leaks - two weeks
No slates seem loose (comfy!)
Could move, change groove
But really, what's the use? (lovely!)
Faiza joined us on the day and was inspired to write this poem
Faiza's House
Come inside to my
Colourful, comfy house.
It has a beautiful
Kitchen with yummy
Food and a lounge
Which has a big TV.
Thanks for those brilliant poems, Rachel and Faiza. I suppose we have to put up with Ray (well, he does bring the squash and biscuits!)
We're all looking forward to 10th July when we meet up again

We are still catching up with our Christmas stories here, we have been so busy on other projects we haven't been blogging for a while.
Rudolph wanted to play with the other reindeer but when the reindeer looked at Rudolph they called him names. The next day Santa came and asked Rudolph, "Will you be my team?"
On the other side of town, Coldee, the snowman woke up and saw Santa standing there. "Will you come to the Snowman Christmas Party?" he asked Coldee, and Coldee siad "YES!". Then they set off and Coldee had a great time. Pengee the Penguin was in the North Pole and wanted a party, as if by magic, Santa appeared and invited him to the snowman Christmas Party.
Then it was the night before Christmas and everyone was asleep, then Santa came and delivered the presents. In the morning, when everyone woke up, they looked at the presents and opened the presents. Everyone was happy and they wanted to play with them all day long. It was dinner time, the mums called the children in for dinner but they didn't listen! Everyone lived happily ever after.
